The six centuries of tradition in the area and the influence of the carnivals of Venice and Austria are at the basis of the renewed Rijeka Carnival. Starting with only three local groups and a hundred participants, now stands as a broader manifestation in whose international parade take part more than ten thousand visitors from ten different countries. Due to the number of participants and spectators, the 1995 Carnival of Rijeka became a member of the Federation of European Carnival Cities, which has ranked it among the most important carnivals in Europe. The big parade this year will be held on 10.02.2013.
The Carnival Package 2013 includes:
- 2 x nights in the Grand Hotel Adriatic in Opatija, in a double room with half board
- 1 x tasting of "Carnival donuts" on 08.02.2012
- Carnival Party in the hotel with live music on 09.02.2012
